Columbus was previously the controlling shareholder of Cable Bahamas, the leading provider of video and high speed internet services in Columbus Communications the Bahamas. Capital expenditures in 2007 and 2008 alone exceeded US$400 million .

Columbus Communications is a cable television communications and telecommunications company, serving markets in the Caribbean and Latin Columbus Communications America. The company was founded in the fall of 2004 by Brendan Paddick, formerly an executive with Persona Communications in Canada. Through its wholly-owned operating subsidiary, Columbus Networks Limited, Nextel Communications the company provides a full suite of advanced, point-to-point, clear channel wholesale broadband capacity and IP services over its owned and operated, state-of-the-art, Columbus Communications 14,000 km subsea fiber optic cable network to clients located in 21 countries throughout the Caribbean, Latin America and North America. Through its Broadband Services operating segment, the company provides various broadband-enabled services such as digital cable television, high speed Internet access and IP telephony services under the unified brand name “Flow” Columbus Communications to its retail and commercial customers in Trinidad, Jamaica, and Grenada. However on July 7, 2009 it was announced by Cable Bahamas that cable Bahamas had received approval and financing to by back the shares owned by Columbus Communications In a short period of time, Columbus Communications has demonstrated a successful Columbus Communications track record in the Caribbean and Central American marketplace.
