Be Fearless and Take a Risk on Technology: The New Age of Marketing

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2006

As I meet with more and more clients and network with more and more marketing and PR professionals I find that not only are my customers overwhelmed, but so are my associates. Marketing has a new face-the face of Internet publicity and DIY audio and visual technology. These marketing tools may seem difficult to understand and so many traditional marketing consultants will avoid them preferring traditional marketing formulas they know will work, but there are so many new ways to save time and money while achieving the same results traditional marketing avenues provide. Of course, this depends on your industry, product and services. Market research, an analysis of your current marketing strategies and the creation and implementation of a focused plan are all essential. However, during this process you may find there are online opportunities you have not considered. Online article syndication and publishing, blogging, audio and video pod casting are just a few of the new tools available to any business interested in marketing to potential customers or their existing client base. These tools get easier and more affordable every month. They also save your current and potential clients time and energy because they are so easily accessible. If your clients have email and an Internet connection you can reach out to them without making them leave their office or home. And in a world where people are becoming increasingly “green” the thought of being even more paper free is a selling point. If you haven’t considered utilizing the technology we are all so lucky to have available to beef up your customer base think again. It may be an simpler way to market, brand and publicize your company. Feel free to call Elizabeth or I for a free one hour consultation and find out what online technology can do for you.

Keywords are the Key

Saturday, February 11th, 2006

Each week I learn more about how to make a web site high performance. The first key to achieving high performance goals is patience. The second key is undertsanding your target market’s language-their language is based on specific keywords. One of the newest ideas I have discussed with a colleague recently is one that can truly help product driven sites. Many times web sites with large online catalogs or shopping carts do not have much room for content and content is essential to attracting the search engines. The question is how can you add content to a site focused on product photos and purchase? Annual press release distribution and article syndication planned over the course of a year can greatly increase your keyword content, without having to add boring and long product descriptions. Keep your web site simple, functional and geared towards online sales, while also making a name for yourself in the industry and offering educational and thought provoking content for your potential customers. The greatest bonus of all will be feeding the search engine the keywords it needs to get better ranking. Keywords make the difference not matter what industry you are in. To learn more about your target marklet and their keyword language give Sidhe a call-your first hour of consultation is free. Until next time I leave you with this random thought for the week-
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today, today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.”-Babtunde Olatunji

Birthday Thoughts: Giver’s Gain

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

I think on of the hardest things to do is to sell yourself. It is easy to believe in someone else and their services or product, it is much more difficult to put a value on your own time, work and energy. Almost all of us dream of having the time and money to hire a marketing team to help bring in the leads and sales, but it usually takes while to get to that point, especially as an entreprenuer or soloprenuer. It is so important that each of us be fearless! We must take risks and introduce ourselves to people we don’t know. We all must step out of our comfort zones and make new connections in order to create more business and grow financially and personally.

Dating Your Potential Customers: The Relationship of Online Marketing

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Marketing, branding and advertising are essentially like any other relationships in your life. There are different stages to go through, certain commitments to be made and principles like love and respect are the keys to success. I recently attended a PR meeting here in Asheville where numerous Public Relations professionals gathered to hear Neil Gurney, formerly with Saatchi and Saatchi, Director of Ministry and Promotions at the Billy Graham Training Center speak about branding and the types of relationships companies have with their consumers. The most important comment he made during his discussion was about how a company’s image is not always in their own hands. The brand is not defined by the company who created it, the brand is defined and controlled by the emotions of the consumer.

Building Relationships is Good Business

Friday, July 15th, 2005

I met with a new client last week and we had an exciting discussion about company/client relationships. In this conversation she made an interesting comment-she is a realtor and she feel that her relationships with her clients are a lot like datingj. Without mutual respect, trust and honesty it will never work. I liked her comparison of business relationships to dating because they are both important investments in other people. I started thinking that the client relationships we are building at Sidhe Communications are really no different. In order to represent our clients well we must have intimate knowledge of their desired image, best qualities, personal goals and belief systems. Since our writing, editing, and marketing services are designed to be a reflection of our clients we have to get to know them and understand their perspective. And our clients have to trust us and be honest about who they are.
