Building Relationships is Good Business
I met with a new client last week and we had an exciting discussion about company/client relationships. In this conversation she made an interesting comment-she is a realtor and she feel that her relationships with her clients are a lot like datingj. Without mutual respect, trust and honesty it will never work. I liked her comparison of business relationships to dating because they are both important investments in other people. I started thinking that the client relationships we are building at Sidhe Communications are really no different. In order to represent our clients well we must have intimate knowledge of their desired image, best qualities, personal goals and belief systems. Since our writing, editing, and marketing services are designed to be a reflection of our clients we have to get to know them and understand their perspective. And our clients have to trust us and be honest about who they are.
The services provided by Sidhe Communications web site development and consulting staff are focused on keyword writing, monthly article syndication on the web and creative content development. If we want our ideas to be true to our client’s vision we must connect with them on a deeper level. As a writer I have to create and hone a voice that comes directly from the client. I use their imagination, thoughts, beliefs and emotions and then apply my own writing, editing and Internet marketing expertise. In my mind this is the best kind of marketing relationship to have, one where myself and the client are equals……it is so important that both of us participate in and contribute to the marketing process, when this happens the client and I are able to share in each other’s success. Just like dating, if only one party is invested it will never work, both people must believe and want the relationship to grow and succeed.
So, in the future remember that business relationships are not just money, they are an important investment of time, energy and creative juice……an investment that leads to sharing financial and personal success. I believe the more often we view business as the people involved in it, the better relationships we will form. A stronger relationship between our company and our clients will lead to a foundation that can last a lifetime.
