communications />The site will build on a merger of the Allbritton Communications Company Web pages now fielded by the company s television stations, WJLA-TV (Channel 7) and its cable sibling, NewsChannel 8, according to the Washington Post. All Smart Communications of its stations are affiliated with ABC after signing an affiliation agreement in 1997. Allbritton launched The Politico, a political news website and newspaper on Allbritton Communications Company January 23, 2007, the day of the 2007 State of the Union Address. In October, 2009, Allbritton announced that it planned to launch an online-only news site for the Washington, D.C., area in spring, 2010.
